Default 2014 A4 (Oil consumption) pre purchase question

I tried to dig up dirt on oil burning issues for the 2.0l TFSI for 2014 and up. It appears this was largely concerning between 2009-2012. Does anyone know if the 2014-15 was subject to the same issues?

I haven't seen much data on the 2014-present MY. We have a 2015 and so far after 50,000 miles we don't see a consumption issue between 5,000 mile oil changes. I suspect if you go with the 10,000 mile dealer oil change recommendation you might see some usage but so far so good.

2014-2016 seem to be pretty clear of most of the mess that plagued 2009-2012. 2013 seems a mixed bag year, so if you have the option to skip it, I would. Anything could happen, but it's not like I would look at a 2014 and think "ok, so it's tensioner is going to break, it's turbo is going to break, it's rings are going to break, it's manifold is going to break, the injectors are going to break; it's all just a matter of when". Though you do get the secondary coolant pump recall to deal with. At least it's a recall, so no costs to you.

Are those things you listed things I should expect to go in this car in particular, or are you just referring to used cars in general? For what it’s worth the recall was performed already on the one I am looking at.

No, that's a starting point for what to be concerned with if you were looking at a 2009-2012 A4. As I said, the 2014-2016 seem to be generally free of that baggage. But nothing is ever guaranteed with an Audi (though getting a CPO with the warranty extended to 100k certainly helps).
