3K in shop, now my Oil Consumption is worse!!
Hey guys, a few weeks ago my 2011 A4 started to run a little hot, I suspected water pump or thermostat so I took to my local Audi mechanic. Now I know the oil consumption in these engines is already insane, it had gotten to a point where I was needing to add oil every 500 miles or so. The mechanics told me all the oil leaks they found, as well as a cracked water pump. I told em to take care of it all. They end up replacing the water pump assembly, brake vacuum pump, upper and lower timing chain covers, boost control valve, and An Oil Change. Total just over 3000.00. Now I’m driving it and my oil consumption is even worse, around 250 miles. What am I missing? Wha would you guys do? Thanks!

It would appear that the various oil leaks might have been a problem caused by the PCV system being clogged or contributing to a slow down of oil usage. The repair of the seals and timing chain along with whatever else they did has allowed for more oil getting past the rings. Also what oil did they use for the oil change. Was it the Castrol recommended. You are in the rock and a hard spot. You can either sell the car or put the money into replacing the pistons and rings. Good luck
