5K oil change wiped out VAG command over rides..;-(
Hi folks
I am posting this in the A4 forum as I guess this would be a common problem for all Audis and not just the Q5 2013 I own. I had made some VAG software changes after getting the car. These changes were 1) Disable DRL turn off when turn signal is on (ie No more wink..)
2) Full needle swap in speedometer and tachometer along with test of warning lights when ignition is turned on . ie Just like the A8s
The problem is when I took Q5 to the first service at 5K everything was reset . That wiped out the changes mentioned above.. aargh..! I had to get the VAG software changes applied again...
Has anyone with VAG changes had their mileage service done in AUDI dealerships and NOT had their VAG changes lost..? What do you tell them..? Just reset the mileage indicator and not anything else..?
Thanks in advance

I made some modifications using VCDS dealing with the seatbelt nag and lighting. I also added folding mirrors and turned on the trip computer. I gave the tech a list of the modifications and how to quickly reload the changes. I have had no problems. He thanked me for the fog light cornering mod, handy in his unlighted neighborhood.

If there are any software updates applied during a service visit, depending on which module is revised, it can overwrite the Vag mods in that module. It has always been the case. Having your own VCDS cable makes it convenient to reset the mods.

Aah thanks. I have saved a printed copy of the 3 VAG changes. Will show it to the dealer mechanic for my 10K Service. . Hope this does not translate to more questions from the dealer on warranty coverage issues...
Thanks...
Thanks...

Some dealers will not make mods for customers and some will. Some will do certain ones but not others. It just depends on the dealer.
