Analog TV Tuner Retrofit to 2G MMI
Hi
I have been scouring the net for some information but theres still a few missing pieces to the puzzle.
I would like to know what I need to be able to retrofit the TV tuner to my MMI. This should allow me to connect other display devices so I can mirror my phone to the screen.
My Setup:
A4 B8 2.0TDi
2G MMI High
Nav
6 cd changer in dash
MMI controls by gear stick
AUX input in the arm rest cubby
No AMI
No reverse camera
Now, I read something about needing the FBAS RVC installed but I am not sure if my MMI has that (any way I can check?)
Apparently, if I do have FBAS RVC then fitting the analog TV tuner box (4E0 919 146) is plug and play.
Any ideas?
Cheers t.i.a

You don't have a backup camera nor tv tuner, so there'd be no need for an FBAS connector on your J523 control module. You can get your actual part number and HW from a VCDS scan, address 7.
Mine has the FBAS plug, for the backup camera. It's 8T0 035 729M / hw 4E0 035 729A.
But you can just pull the CD changer out and use a mirror to look at the back side of the J523. It sits behind the climate controls, right under the CD changer. The Farka plug should be along the left side top, iirc.
ETKA is a mess regarding that part. From what I can see, if you have 729E, 729N or 729T, then you won't have the FBAS support. If you have 729F, 729P, or 730, then you will have the FBAS support. But parts.audiusa.com doesn't even acknowledge any of those revisions, only my M rev. So even if you get the part info from VCDS, you'd have to compare it to others with the same rev to learn anything.
google for "audi a4 fbas receiver" turns up all kinds of stuff.
audi-sport.net has a more UK centric community, if you've not already searched or asked there.

thanks for getting back to me, I pulled out the cd changer and had a look, this is what I found. None of the numbers match what you mentioned, any idea what I have?
the number on the MMI module is 8T0 035 462

Edit
I have just realised, the number 8T0 035 462 relates to the retainer piece that sits on top of the actual MMI box. I'll need to pull it out and have another look underneath for the MMI part number.
unless I can check it somehow through the UI?

If you have VCDS (Ross-Tech), a scan will report the information, as I noted previously.
Do you not have an inspection mirror so you can look at the backside without pulling it out? The FBAS plug, if you have it, will be on the back side.
