Auxiliary Water Pump No Replacement
I've got a 2013 A4 quattro with the auxiliary water pump recall on it. Seems that the resolution for this vehicle is to disconnect the pump and give you 4 year unlimited warranty on the turbo.
If the damned pump isn't needed to cool the turbo why was it put on the vehicle? If the damned pump isn't needed why an extended warranty on the turbo?
I just know that 4 years and 1 month down the road I'm on the shoulder of I-5 with a turbo in pieces.
Just can't fathom how this solution is acceptable.

Then don't accept the N4 resolution and wait for them to have stock and take the O2 resolution. So it's fire risk now or turbo risk later.
More so, it becomes a point of concern to those who know who might buy a B8.5 used down the road. It certainly puts a damper on the idea of replacing my 09 avant with a 14-16 allroad.
I do find it curious that both parts.audiusa.com and ECS Tuning sell the same aux pump part number as ETKA shows for the B8.5. Is it only a certain batch that was bad?
The part numbers for the replacements (depends on your build date) are different, back to the style of part number that the B8.0 had.
I think if you go for the disconnect, your safest long term is to always let the engine idle for a minute before turning it off, and don't lay into it the last few miles before you're known destination.
And change the oil at least every 5k, maybe even 3k if you do lots of short trips. The cooking of the oil as it sits there right after engine off is the prime concern.
