Avant Trailer Wiring
I ordered a Curt hitch and PWM converter and wiring kit that was specified for the 2009/10 A4 Avant. Anyone know what circuits/ colors to hook up the left signal, right signal and tailights on the vehicle harness? The A4 uses a multi-plexed light system. I'm not sure I can find the right circuits to connect with a standard test light.

Here's an update: Using a test light, I determined that that the left turn/ brake circuit is grey with black stripe; right turn/ brake is black with green stripe. I spliced the wires near where the harness exits the body to the tail-lamps. Everything is in working order.

Hitch install?
How was the overall install? How much time did it take? Difficulty? Any chance to see a picture? Thanks.

Wiring the converter (use Curt part number 56201 for the Avant) takes some time (about 2 hours) to do a neat job of carefully routing and connecting the harness. You need to remove the spare tire, jack and subwoofer to get to the + lead to the battery terminal. The converter fits nicely into the left compartment (see pictures). Good luck if you decide to do this.

I just had the Curt 56201 installed and now i am getting a message that says ignition lock default with the symbol of a key with a line throuigh it. The car is also not starting on the first try. Have tried disconnecting the module from the battery and no luck. Has anyone run into this problem?
Thanks

Can someone tell me what the "AMP" looking module is? I have a 2007 Avant and don't have this large aluminum heatsink unit in mine.
Also does anyone have the actual wiring connection points to the car? Does it just tie in to the tail light wires or is it an actual module like the one in Europe?

The Curt hitch takes about 1 1/2 hours to instal. You need to disconnect both muffler hangers and drop the rear of the exhaust system. I did it alone but another person to help lift the hitch in place while you are threading the nuts would have been helpful. I don't like how the hitch is exposed (see picture) but it requires no modifications to the vehicle or valence.
