2014 A4 oily layer of mixed grease and dust
Hi All,
Need an advice please, when I opened the hood to add windshield cleaner fluid I did notice the plastic engine cover, covered with tiny layer of oily dust/grease mix.
Is this a sign for something? Car has about 12K miles on.

Where on the engine cover is the residue? Near the oil cap? If so it's probably residual oil from when it was topped off that has sloshed around and the tech never wiped up before putting the oil cap back on.

Actually its the whole thing, thats why it brought my attention.

Seems the oil cap could be suspect. If it's not sealing oil vapor can escape. Check it for cracks or improper fitment.
If all looks well. Wipe it clean, and keep an eye on it. I'd probably check it after every fill up to see if you can spot where it's coming from if not the oil cap.
