B7 loaner
My dealership apparently has given up on Enterprise Rent a Car and is now lending out its own cars. Today I was given a B7 with about 44k miles on the clock.
I am amazed to see how much the B8 is an improvement over previous generations. The first thing I noticed was how much rougher and louder the 2.0 engine of the B7 is. And, as to be expected, acceleration is slower, too.
Also, I had forgotten how annoying it was having the center console pressing up against my right leg -- as it also did in my B6. I'm glad they fixed this in the B8.
The seating in my B8 is also more comfortable than those in the B7. Granted, I have the optional sport seats, but I never could get comfortable in my B6. So much so that I had to have my seat motors replaced three times -- as a result of me constantly adjusting my seat, even while driving. I rarely ever readjust my B8's seat.
I was also surprised to see that the B7 had a wood-trimmed steering wheel. Again, my B8's beefy three-spoke wheel is superior.
Overall, the B8's ergonomic improvements alone make me glad that I bought the car. The engine improvements are the icing on the cake.

I reached similar conclusions when I reviewed a B7 sedan loaner and B7 Avant loaner last year. The engine harshness/vibration was one of the biggest improvements with the B8 I did like a couple things better about the B7 though.
