Dealer or Indy
So I now own a beautiful 2012 A4 Avant premium plus with 2-1/2 years left on original; warranty plus the car is Audi certified. I am approaching 15,000 miles quickly and have a decision to make as to the 15,000 mile service. I would like to utilize an Audi dealer for service to establish a relationship should warranty work be required. However after reading many, many reviews of Audi dealers here in NYC area I am frankly afraid.
Basically the 15000 mile is a glorified oil change with some air filter at the going rate of $400 +/- (seems ridicules).
So the question is should I go to a Dealer or an Indy for this work? and who has had relatively good service at a dealer and who is that dealer?
Thanks

You can buy the oil and filters from Amazon and do it yourself for about $50. It is mostly inspections they are charging you for. I use a MityVac oil extractor and the whole oil change takes 15 minutes, and you don't need to do anything more than raise the hood and have a tool to remove the oil filter.
You cannot reset the service nag screen without a computer through the OBDII connector. Many independents have this, so it might be wise to have them do the service.
Be sure to keep all documentation, including parts and fluids replaced, and with what to avoid warranty snags later on.
If you want dealer service, always ask for a discount or look for service specials online from other dealers. Many will match prices. I get my service done for a tad under $200 in the LA area.
