I just purchased a 2011 a4 Quattro and learned you need a scanner to reset the service light when you change the oil
Can someone recommend one that does cost a fortune
I like changing my own oil and other DIY tasks and don't feel like spending 300 bucks to do it

Just to be clear; The oil change reminder is reset in the car user menu. No tool required.
It is the Service reminder that needs a diagnostic tool.
(I have VCDS [= The original VAG-Com] which I suspect you think is too expensive.)

You might consider alternatives from China. Solutions from less than $20 to less than $100.

Don't buy such tools without some evidence that it works for your particular car. I got a tool similar to the one in link (exact same description) and it works fine as ODB scanner but most proprietary Audi functions don't work. It will reset your check engine light but may not reset the service reminder.
