Engine mounts for Manual car

Hi Guys,

I have a 2008 B8, 1.8T (CABB) manual that needs engine mounts.

When I enter the VIN into online parts shops it is unrecognized.

And can only find CVT engine mounts for the car.

Can anyone offer any advice/help on how to find the correct part number please for these mounts?

Would appear to be 8R0 198 381 D for the manual and 8R0 198 381 C for the CVT.

Thanks for that.

Is that the left or right mount?
And what about transmission mount?

I have read that the manual mounts may be discontinued. And I know auto ones are active mounts.
Does anyone know how the active mounts work, i.e., are they softer at a standstill and firm up during driving?

The B8.0 mounts part number is the pair, and includes the brackets. B8.5 they changed to having all the parts individually.
The active mounts for when equipped with the ZF automatic are to deal with the extra vibration of the transmission at idle. You won't have the wiring in the car that would plug into them anyway. I don't even see a part number for the B8.0 A4 1.8T CABB in conjunction with the ZF auto; was that combination even sold?

Ok, if I click on the details, it shows the B8.0 composite part number was ended in 2016. The breakout of the component parts is:
8R0 199 381 G left mount, 8K0 399 059 left retaining plate
8R0 199 381 AL right mount, 8K0 399 060 right retaining plate
So now you'd have to go for the four pieces individually rather than one part number that includes them all.

Thanks again SMAC,

No I don't believe there was a CABB engine and ZF Auto combination. The "auto" version was a CVT.

Do I need to replace the retaining plates or can I just order the left and right engine mounts?

I did the plates when I did mine. The repair manual says the plates should be replaced with the mounts. I have no idea the why of that, or the what might be if it's ignored. But they are not "cheap".
The big bolt that holds the engine to the mount is also replace if removed, part number N91 148 901. The other bolts involved (frame to retaining plate and frame to mount) appear to be reusable.

And do you know if the I directly buy Lemforder mounts, will the part numbers be the same?

SMac770 01-27-2021 04:57 PM

Doubtful, they were not for me when I bought my Lemforder mounts.

So looks like 34744 01 and 34745 01

No clue who makes the retaining brackets.

On the trans mount, it appears it would be 8K0 399 151 BD.

What brand engine mounts are well regarded?

I have found only Meyle-Original to supply manual specific mounts.

Other brands like Corteco or Lemforder supply electronically active engine mounts only, though I do believe these physically fit in.
