Default Engine Warm-up during winter

Is it mandatory to warm-up the Audi petrol engine before start driving in winter? If yes, Why and How long we need to warm-up ?

FYI, I have Audi a4 B8 1.8L CABB engine(Petrol).

No, not needed. The engine warms up much faster when under load.

Yes. Do you live in an area where it's exceptionally cold?

Does the car sit outside overnight where it's exposed to those temperatures?

It will be parked in underground garage, but I mostly use this car during the weekends.

If inside, probably nothing to worry about. Just make sure you have an appropriate oil, like 0W40, that's rated for VAG.

I guess I would wait for 30 - 60 seconds when we get to 20F or colder...just to make sure the engine is running smooth. I don't wait on garaged cars regardless of the outside temp.

Great, thanks for your time @uberwgn and yes, I am using Castrol 5W30 LL engine oil.
