Default EPC Warning Light "Do not exceed 4000 rpm"

Hi all
I'm sure this topic may have been covered, however I received the following message on my audi this morning. Firstly, I started the car and there was no issues, until 1-2 min later where I began to reverse out the driveway. The EPC Warning Light came on, with an additional message of "Do not exceed 4000 rpm" + "Engine start/stop not available.
Unfortunately i had to drive the car for about 5 minutes back home, where the motor would die in revs, the gearbox would jump from 2nd to 7th, then back to 2nd again. It has never happened before, I have only just bought the car recently also.

The car: Audi A4 Quattro SLine - B8 S Line Sedan 4dr S tronic 7sp quattro 2.0T [MY14] Build Nov 13.

I've done a small amount of research, is it possible to have faulty oil pressure sensors? other than that, any Ideas?

Many Thanks.

You should have the codes read and then go from there.

Thanks mate!

Interestingly, I had the car run through a diagnostic and all that came up was a "coolant" error. Discovered my overflow bottle was leaking, had it all replaced, flushed etc, then put back on a diag test, the same coolant error was still there. Turns out it looks like the electric water pump is faulty & my battery is half dead.
I have it booked in for next week, I'll be back with a report.

Gotta love Audi!!

The results of the tests were that my water pump had malfunctioned and was the root cause of everything to begin with. Had it replaced and all is good now. Another note, my battery is getting old now and could have some cause of the problems also ... my engine start/stop works intermittently, average battery life maybe cause of that too.

Thanks again

Have changed the idle sensor but still have it on when passing 100 km/h
