First oil change 2011 A4
It's coming that time for my first oil change in my new 2011 A4.
I called Audi and they quoted me at $140-150. Is there any reason I can't take it to a cheaper place like JiffyLube or Midas and have it done for cheaper? If I do take it to somewhere other than Audi, what type of oil should I use? |

If you are in the US, the first oil-change is free at 5k miles.

I would happily pay and extra $100 to never go to another Jiffy Lube. I used to take my truck to one, but got so fed up with the sleazy attitude I started taking it into the dealer. Not too long ago a local LA news station did a sting on EZ-Lube and pretty much discovered what you'd expect: suggesting completely unnecessary repairs (radiator flush, fuel filter, etc...), not actually doing the work they suggested, and not using new oil filters with an oil change.
And that's why I gladly pay for AudiCare. Anyone who buys my car after the lease will be getting an immaculate machine. |

OP - You may still be able to get Audicare on your car.....around $800. It's well worth it covers all scheduled maintenance during the warranty. Does not cover wearables like brakes etc.
Don't take your car to Jiffy Lube. I used to take my Chrysler there but never felt like they were doing everything they said they were. They will also not be able to reset the service reminders and they won't be able to run any diagnostics on the car, reflash with software updates etc. |
DIY, a monkey can do an oil change.
...and don't give that "I don't have time" excuse. |

If you can't do it yourself, it is $69.95 at the dealer in Denver for synthetic oil, OEM filter and car wash ... they have a coupon on the website (McDonald Audi) you can print off ... see if they will match it.
