My front brakes are squeaking very loud but I don't have a check brake light on... what could it be? are they just dirty or something?

How many miles on the car. Have the brake pads been recently replaced. Do you have a lot of brake dust. How does the car stop. When do you hear the noise and is it a squeal sound or a grinding sound. When you look at the brake rotors do they look shinny.

I have 89,000 miles on it. I do have quite a lot of brake dust. The car still stops very well. I only hear it when I am stopping and it doesnt happen every time. and yes the brake rotors are somewhat shinny.

Try to clean the pads/rotors with high pressure water, you should alot of black stuff coming out. I do this ever time I wash my car.
