How do I "renew" the wiper motor on my 2012 A4?
I think I need to replace the wiper motor on my 2012 A4.
Symptoms: Totally dead. No response to stalk or "Service Position" setting.
Analysis: Oscilloscope shows good CAN bus signal at the motor, very clean, no noise. No OBD error codes or dashboard indicators.
Conclusion: I need to replace the motor... right?
I am fine doing the replacement but the last step in the manual says:
"If control unit is to be renewed, select the “Replace control unit”
function for appropriate control unit in ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic
tester."
I have OBD2 connector and generic software, but it is not clear to me what this is or how to do it. I assume I have to do more than just disco the battery.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance.

No worries
I replace them all the time. Just replace the motor/arms. No special coding or OBD functions necessary. The only issue is if the arms are stuck, it's a tight fit and they my be hard to cone out. Also with corrosionon on the wiper arm shafts, they tend to be stuck.
