iPod touch lightning controlled by 2009 A4 AMI
I have a 2009 A4 with MMI (does not have the joystick - it's the generation older than that). It has a 30-pin Apple connector in the glove box. I used it to control an old iPod until it broke. I basically want to achieve the same thing I had except with a newer iPod.
My understanding is only the 5th+ generation iPod touch can get tracks from Apple Music, which I use. That model uses a lightning cable. If I get that, and get the dealer to install the official lightning cable MMI (instead of using a 30 pin to lightning adapter), I think I will be all set, but would be great to get a thumbs up here.
To be clear, I have zero interest in streaming music, bluetooth, or controlling music by touching the iPod. All I want to do is use the car's interface to select and play tracks from the iPod, which are stored on its hard drive.
Thanks.
