Jetta 2.0TDI $2K less than 2.0T.
So, I'm hoping AoA keep the A43.0TDI in the ballpark.
No more info on this yet, right? DD |
Diesel prices
Diesel prices relative to gas prices are at an all-time high. Unless you plan on keeping the vehicle for 300K miles, I'm not sure the initial cost plus the fuel cost is worth it.

You hope they keep the A4 3.0TDI in the ballpark of the A4 3.2?

California and other states give you a credit when you buy the Jetta TDI

Re: California and other states give you a credit when you buy the Jetta TDI
That won't last long. Governor Arnold is telling the Obama team that the state needs $31 billion just to stay afloat. The age of states handing out money to shift public attitudes is over.

Yep. Gotta remember you're only gonna get 30-35% better mileage...
so if diesel costs 50% more than gasoline, like it does now, you're losing money.
Never used to be such a crazy difference in price between the 2. But now it's not a clear cut case of buying a diesel to save on fuel cost. Kerry |
Another benefit of the TDI is longevity and available DSG.
Diesels last much longer than gas versions so if you own cars for 7-10 years, the TDI seems like a good choice. Also, I think resale is better for diesels.
I drove a DSG-equipped Jetta TDI and it was really nice and I actually preferred it to the non-sport A4 premium I also drove. If it had available AWD and a sports package, it would be a viable alternative to an A4. They also should offer paddles on the Jetta DSG - I guess they would if they offered a sport package. |
Or even below... Lesser optioned of course.
The jetta comparison is not apples to apples, and was merely thrown out there.
The SEL 2.0T has many more doodadery, which I could give a #$@# about. Bring me cloth seats and manual windows. :-) DD |
No DSG anywhere for Audi A4

other states = all. The IRS is giving the tax credit
