Default You need the HEX-USB-CAN if you have a USB port on your laptop. $349 plus shipping.

I was hoping it was one of the cheaper options, but thanks! I'll order after the holidays.

Default Re: Tire Pressures?

My understanding of the B8 electronics/sensors is that it only monitors a drop of some % of your tire pressure as reset by you in the MMI, not specific pressures of the tires. Additionally, the A4 cannot display which tire is under the threshold, only that one of the four is low (you would have to check all tires if you get a warning).

Therefore, there would be no way for the electronics or the Vag-com to know what they actually are. (I believe I've read that the A8 has a more sophisticated system that does monitor individual tire pressures).

Default We should support RossTech

Let me just say that I don't work for Ross-Tech, and don't know anyone who does.
I've had a VAG-COM for about 3 years, and have used it on my C5 A6, and now on my B8 A4. The s/w is great, and while it's true that you might be able to get a chinese cable to work, it makes sense that we should support this small company that not only sells s/w, but helps diagnose the cars.
With my C5 A6 I had a problem with the electrical leveling sensor for the Rear. I did not know how to properly diagnose the problem and the folks at Ross Tech helped me understand how to use the s/w and how to read the outputs from the car. I ordered the sensor on line, installed it, and the problem was fixed immediately.
That's great service, and with just the purchase of the cable, I get service for life. An excellent deal, and we should be very thankful that these guys are developing the s/w for us.
For me, I'll continue to buy their products.
