So got off the phone with my dealer and my pre-order according to him has a delivery timeframe of 7/31/08 - 9/3/08 so he said the latest it'll be here is first week of September. He read me back the order and everything sounds good except for ONE MAJOR PROBLEM!!

I'm pretty sure I asked for Phantom Black but the order says Brilliant Black. He went through the order sheets for all the other MY2009 A4s he had and all the blacks were listed as Brilliant Black. He thought maybe Audi changed to Brilliant Black for early models or something. Anybody have a clue on this? Also any pictures showing difference between Brilliant Black and Phantom Black?

Either way, he said the car is ordered and should be here soon. I can check it out and if I don't like it I can go with another car or whatever.

He also said the actual detailed order sheets won't be out until 8/8 and lease pricing won't be available until early September!

My boss has a Q7 in Phantom Black and I've seen an RS4 at the dealer lot in Phantom Black. Very nice color, has metallic in it, but not as "black" as Brilliant Black.

I prefer BB, but then again, that should be obvious in my sig.

I might be cool with BB since I like deeper blacks but my concern was I've heard that keeping BB looking good is a pain as compared to Phantom Black.

I guess I'll wait to see it in person and then decide. It doesn't look like there are any Phantom Black MY2009 A4s coming soon to my dealer so if I want Phantom Black will have to wait a while as opposed to having a B8 in a few weeks!

since the grey and metallic on Phantom Black can help to "hide" the dirt a bit.

But when a BB car is done properly, very few colors can match it, IMHO.

When you mean done properly...you mean wash daily/weekly or frequently? Mine will be in a garage most of the time so it'll be protected from the elements but that garage also gets very dusty so I doubt it'll look as good as in your picture for long!

depending on weather. Being in SoCal is nice since weather is mostly good. Our cars are also garaged, so that helps too, sometimes allowing me to go 4 weeks.

Once in a while, a really good clay, wash, polish, and wax to bring it back to gleaming. Having a bottle of Quick Detailcr and some microfiber rags handy also helps, as does a California Duster (but only usable in the first week or so).

Thanks for the responses. You have more pics of your BB A4? Want to see some more shots of it. I've found a bunch of Phantom Black pics but not too many brilliant black.

but it will be later this week since I'm on my way out of town. However, nearly all the pics in there are of my BB cars (A3, B6 Avant, and B7), though not that many of the B7. Still, BB looks the same on all of them.

According to the "A4 Package Content" chart on page 42 of the brochure, it looks like the Navigation Package with camera is only available with the Prestige Package.

Hmmm that's odd. The order sheet I filled out for the order clearly shows that the Navigation/Camera is available as an option on Premium plus.

He read me back my order and it said Navigation/Camera too.

Whatever, the way I see it...if the dealer or Audi screwed up I can go with another car or re-order or just walk away
