More clarification. . .
I personally went to my Audi dealer to inquire about the "wheel delay."
I posted the results below.
Here is what the rep did, on the phone whilst I sat in front of him:
He called his "Audi Dealer Helpline" person -- he gave her the information about the dealership and my order.
A minute later -- he asked a couple of questions and then hung up.
His response, as I noted below was "you WERE #1 in our order queue -- you have been moved down the queue along with a couple of the dealer cars we ordered for demos or inventory; your new BUILD date is week 37 with a delivery date of about 6 weeks thereafter."
The point I am making, unless this was an elaborate bit of role playing for my benefit, was that the dealer has the power to make a phone call and get direct info from AoA that is presumably tied to Audi AG's great system in the sky.
When I read some of the runaround some folks get here, it does make me wonder "why?"
Unless, my dealer just loves to waste time with bogus phone calls staged for my benefit.
NOT!

I agree. The dealer should be able to use their direct contacts to get decent info. My guy called and was told my ordered A4 is in production now and delivery is end Aug to beg Sep, give or take a week.
The only info he can't get right now is the same everywhere - no prices yet for the A4 sedan/Avant. They can't get any answers other than "soon". They're as frustrated as I am.

Makes me wonder "why?" too.
Then I remember it's because they are salesmen.
If I don't have a pre-existing relation as you have with 30 cars bought from them or whatever, then if they tell me my order is delayed until October-November they run a risk of cancelling and buying something else.
For me I don't really feel that it's an intentional runaround, but more a lack of detail. I just want more detail like you are getting build week and a detailed reason for the delay. I was told it was being built a couple weeks ago, but that is aparrently not true. It's almost as if they want to say "it's being built sometime between now and when you pick it up...don't worry about it."

No, neither. Putting the money into toy options instead like nav/camera, drive select, wood. Don't feel I need the stiffer ride of sport especially with the drive select options allowing for dynamic option.

That explains why yours is not delayed.
only 18" sport and 19" wheel equipped vehicles suffer a delay.
