Default Not a current Audi owner but need advice

I was looking into buying a 2009 a4 3.2 quattro for $8k. It has 121,xxx miles. I have yet to drive it but I have concerns about reliability since I've never owned an Audi before. Can anyone inform me of is it a good buy, common issues or problems with this model?

95% of the misery of the B8 is the 2.0T engine, which that one does not have. As for the 3.2L V6 FSI motor (code CALA) that's in there, you'd get much more relevance in the B7 generation forum. 2009 was that crossover year. Where you had the new 2.0T TSI motor and the old 3.2L FSI motor; the new B8 chassis, but the old MMI 2G.

So I can't speak to the engine, but the 2009 is fine enough otherwise. I've got 181k miles on my 2009 wagon. There's little things here and there, but nothing crazy unless it was regarding the engine. The transmission is doing fine enough for being that old. I did have to repair one torn outer CV joint boot a few months back. Replaced a few parts along the way, door handle sensors, fuel filler door solenoid, etc.

One thing that comes to mind with that age is the O2 sensors. My understanding is 100k is about the timeline for the sensors to stop working "well". Being a V6, you'll have four of them, and they aren't cheap. They are easy to replace yourself on the 2.0T, but that engine really fills up that engine bay.

Also, anyone can clear codes and it can be a few starts before they pop back up. What's your plan should something come up in the first 100 miles or so? You know someone with a Ross-Tech cable or have one yourself you can scan the car for codes? Don't know if places like AutoZone do complete scans of the car, or just P codes from the drivetrain.
