oil consumption
Hi Guys,
My wife's car started using a lot of oil over the past 6 months. She adds a 1 quart every 1k miles. Anyone else having this issue or know about this issue?
Her car:
Model: A4 2.0
Year: 2012
Miles: 102K
Audi dealer tried to tell he this is normal. and we found that there was a recall for this but for model years up to 2011.
Thanks for your time and advice.

You have finally reached the oil burning phase of the cars life. I would first check the PCV system and see if that would fix the problem but from the sound of it you may just be starting the downfall of the engine. The fix would be a piston replacement which as you can imagine is costly. So your options are to keep feeding it oil , or get the pistons replaced or to fill it with oil and trade it in or sell it. Good luck.

My current is the same vehicle, at 98 K. I use 1 liter between services, about 7 months for top ups. I have only run across this a few times. There was a thread from Britain about the forward cylinder wearing the forward wall due to an off vertical rise of the piston. There is also the weird guy that has a similar shopping schedule who drives an S4 that he likes to service at random garages. He uses a liter to often.
I would suggest checking you exhaust pipe. If it seems the oil is blowing by, consider a compression check at an AAA certified garage. If it is a slush box, could be a severe case of carbon, too
