Phantom Misfires
Check engine light is on. Code indicates misfires. Engine does not misfire. At 2000 RPM phantom misfires occur. Cannot regulate system in order to get state inspection. Everything tested on and in the engine comes back clean. I am at my wits end. Have spent over 2K at Audi dealer and can not resolve. HELP!!! Any suggestion appreciated.

So are you saying that Audi cannot fix the problem. So do we assume you contacted AOA about both the problem and the inability of the dealer to fix the problem. What is the dealer saying . Was your request to fix the problem and inspect the car . What did they replace.

Yes, my Audi dealer can not determine the cause of the phantom misfires. I have not contacted AOA (assuming AUDI of America ) yet. Yes, My request was to repair the issue causing the CEL to stay on and not be able to reset, then perform a state inspection. The dealer wants to replace the ECM @ $2k with no guarantee that will be the fix. So far I have had the cylinders scoped, replace all spark plugs and coils, replaced the high pressure fuel pump. Injector tips clean. Replaced crank sensor. Checked cam adjuster solenoid and “ other “. Can not set readiness to perform state inspection.

This is the problem with the German products and American dealerships. A failure to consumers.
