Rear parking sensor not working
1 Attachment(s)
Hi all, need your help/advice. When I reverse the car no longer beeps when there is an object close to the rear bumper. I have a 2010 A4.
I am trying to locate the cable/connector for the sensors thinking that perhaps it has come loose. On the right trunk panel, I found this module (see picture). Part number is 8K0919475H which is the "electronic parking assist" module. My questions are: 1) Is this the module that controls my sensors? 2) What/where else can I check to troubleshoot? Could it be a blown fuse? Thanks in advance. |
Yes, that is the module.
Checks: * Check your fuse list for parking aid (differ between model years). * Do you get a long (error) beep when changing to reverse gear? If not, does your reverse light turn on in reverse gear? * Touch lightly on each sensor, when active you should feel a repeating buzz. Sensors are known to fail but I had a failure in the control module with similar signature as a broken sensor: An initial long beep and missing buzz from one sensor. Reading out error codes (using for example VCDS) can give information on the failure. |
Audi8k, I do feel a very faint buzz when I pressed on the sensors. This probably means that the connection/power from sensors to the parking assist module is GOOD.
To answer your questions, NO I do not get a long beep when changing to reverse gear. And YES, the white reverse lights do come on when I reverse. Another thing to add (may not be related) is that the reverse camera works. In a nutshell, can see whats behind but there's no beeping sound when near objects. Question for you...the parking module has 3 ports. As you can see from pic, only the left and right one is connected. Do you know what is the middle port? I am guessing it is for FRONT sensors (which my car doesn't have)? Thanks and let me know what else I can check. |
When adjusting the volume for parking sensors in MMI, is it silent?
If you have navigation, try a Restart (the 3 buttons). Bad speaker or speaker connection for parking aid? With VCDS you could check (in addition to any error reporting) the measurment value from each sensor. |
I tried the 3 button reboot but it didn't help. I did as you suggest to adjust parking sensor volume and frequency. Nothing...no sound at all.
I remember seeing a diagram and it showed that the parking sensor "buzzer" is a small separate unit. Meaning sound is not coming from car audio system. I guess the next step would be to locate and this "buzzer" and check for loose connection or perhaps replace it. Any idea where it is? Thanks, I think I am getting there. |

Does the camera activates when you put the gear into reverse?
If not, might be reverse signal is missing? What happens when you manually activate the parking aid? Does the camera and front parking sensors work? Scan for error codes (VCDS, OBDeleven or similar). |

Does it work when manually activated with the button?
In VCDS you can try "Measuring values" in the parking aid module. Don't know exactly where, but the reverse signal should be possible to activate with an output test in VCDS. Somebody else might be able to tell you where you can monitor the Reverse Switch signal. |
