Removing CD changer

Removing CD changer
Hi, I want to remove the CD changer in my A4 B8 (MMI 2 High). I do have the unlock keys, but still the changer will not move at all. I took out the vent above the changer and the AC control unit below. There are 4 bolts visible, I removed all but still the changer will not move. Anybody an idea how to get the changer out without breaking anything?

The changer comes out of the frame using just the two extraction keys. No need to remove the frame from the dash. If it's like the old 90's Ford stuff, the keys push some spring clips aside so the unit can slide out. You might need to play with the keys to make sure they are actually pushing the spring clips clear. The one note in the service manual is the finger loops on the keys are pointed on one side. The points should point away from each other, outwards.

Thanks for the reply. I already remove the change on earlier occasions so the keys are in correctly. They are marked R top and L top. When inserted, the point are facing away from each other. I tried to fiddle around but nothing helps. When inserting the key I feel a click. But the key does not grip. I used four keys but not one of them grips, both right and left. So I am looking for another way to get the changer out.

The four bolts you removed, two were above the changer below the vents, and the other two were "inside"? The service pic shows four bolts to remove to remove the frame. Two above the unit, and then two more that are inside the frame screwed into the sides. I assume the changer is blocking the access to those two bolts, but maybe they are below the changer and accessible when the climate controls removed. You can see the bolts' orientations pretty well on the parts diagram: https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/e...q/636u/857100/
When you had it out before, what did you observe regarding the clips. From this video, it seems like the clips are at the bottom of the sides: youtu.be/Z4WohGwGWHs?t=99
So if the keys are not getting the clips to operate, you'll need to find some means to create a hole on the sides or from below so you can physically press the clips in. The problem is, from what I talked about above, I suspect the two "inside" bolts are right there at the clips.
The video in this thread might help too: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a6-...r-out-2831505/
In the end, if there's just no way to get the keys to flex the clips, you could just drill out the barrier that the clips are behind and then repair or replace the frame. But looks like 8K0858969 is $160ish.
