When in S mode, the engine throttle and transmission gear software maps are changed resulting in a "sportier" response in two ways:

1) The accelerator pedal becomes more responsive as a result of less pedal travel needed for the same amount of gas delivery. Or, to put in another way, the sensitivity of the gas pedal/gas delivery is increased.

2) The transmission holds each gear for a longer time when upshifting and for a shorter time when downshifting than in D mode; upshifting later, downshifting sooner.

For cars equipped with ADS, the S mode operates the same as setting the options for the Engine/Transmission to "Dynamic" mode. Starting with 2012 C7 models and (I believe) 2013 B8 models, the gear selector was changed from separate, discrete S and D shifter positions to a single position whereby the two modes alternate by pulling the lever back once. This allows for the shift lever to be moved into the Manual tip mode from S mode w/o having to go through D mode first.

My car doesn't have the ADS,so i can put it in "S" if i want a sporty feel when i am driving, correct? is that the only advantage?

Yeah sure, if you feel like it. You'll probably take a fuel economy hit.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone say driving in S mode was destructive to the car in some way...if that's what you're trying to find out.
