Here is the section from the MMI manual (2G).
Setting the time
You can choose between a quartz clock and a radio-controlled
clock*. If you have chosen the quartz clock,
you must set the time and date yourself. The radio-controlled
clock* receives the time and date automatically.
Calling up the Time setting menu
– Press the function selector button marked "SETUP"
– Press the Time control button. The Time setting menu
will appear on the MMI display.
Selecting the time source*
– Turn the rotary push-button to Time source and press to
confirm.
– Turn the rotary push-button to quartz or radio clock* and
press to confirm. When the time source is selected as
radio clock*, the “signal reception symbol” appears on
the rev counter display.
Setting the time (only possible for time source:
quartz)
– Turn the rotary push-button to Time and press to confirm.
The hour display will be highlighted in white on the MMI
display.
– To set the hour, turn the rotary push-button clockwise or
anti-clockwise and press it. The minute display will then

I too found these statements in my manual as I stated in my first post, but my car does not show the radio controlled clock as an option -- so obviously the functionality of this is regional.
I can speak for the functionality of U.S. spec 3G Nav equipped A4s: no radio controlled clock. Can anyone with an A4 in other countries chime in as to whether or not their car is equipped with this?

wow is this discussion still going on? People, it takes 5 seconds to adjust the clock manually in your cars. Twice a year makes that 10 seconds. I plan on keeping this car for 5 years so it will take me all of 50 seconds to change the clock over the 5 year period. It has taken me longer to type this post. Well maybe not 50 seconds because I am a pretty quick typer/typist. OK now that I have rambled on for a few more sentences, I am now at 50 seconds. Good night all.

To be fair, the discussion is really about whether the cars have/should have a radio-controlled clock. There are benefits to a radio-controlled clock beyond the twice-a-year time change. It keeps the clock accurate year-round, and adjusts to different time zones if you are traveling. It also re-sets itself if you disconnect the battery for service.
It's hardly a major issue, but it would be nice to have a simple technology that is included in numerous consumer devices.
