Shaking Idle, Misfiring Idle, Underboost Light, Clunky-Feeling Shifting
2009 A4 Quattro Prestige Trim ~146k miles.
Shaking Idle, Misfiring Idle, Underboost Light, Clunky-Feeling Shifting.
I've replaced the intake manifold, diverter valve and fuel pressure sensor.
Replacing these seemed to make it work fine and smooth for about 4 days, and then the underboost light came back with misfires.
When engine is initially started, cold, the shaking idle is almost unnoticeable, and then when it warms for a minute and the rpms lower after the initial start up, the shaking engine is 100% noticeable. The Shifting seems almost clunky but i think (no expert at all) it's a misfire issue.
At high speeds, all mentioned before is hardly noticed at all. Shifting from 6 into 5 is smooth, 5 into 4 is smooth, but then 4-3, 3-2, 2-1 seem labored.
I have a feeling there's still an air issue, such that at idle, it almost feels like trouble breathing (lean air?). I'm also considering carbon build up.
First thing shop guy mentioned, without actually looking at it though, was it may possibly be wastegate movement (bad turbo). But i'm thinking it could be a bunch of different issues. I've read about rear-main seal, front oil-pressure bolt.. seems like it could be lots of things.. Anyone else experience similar symptoms? Remedies? Id rather shell out a few more grand then obtain a new car payment. And i fu*king love this car man. I'll cry if she's out of my life
