Default Full stop take off veeerrry sloooow

Feels like 2nd gear. A4 2.0 Turbo Sedan.
Both D and S start the same. Is there a way to get a better quicker dead stop take off.
Couldn't find anything in the manual. Step on gas and nothing happens for .75-1.0 seconds. That is way too long

I had that same problem on my '09 A4. It turned out to be a bad turbo.

Is it always there or only some times? Mine is like that sometimes, but not always. If I stop and sit a few seconds, it usually is fine. But if I stop and go like I've already confirmed I'm clear and only stopping for the legal purpose, sometimes it just slugs along for 1-2 sec before the rpm finally rockets up. Pray I'm not trying to cut in front of fast traffic.

Got much better once I realized there's a screen at the front of the air tunnel to the air filter which was clogged solid black, but it's still there from time to time. Maybe a turbo issue, but it's not worth several grand to address. It's rare enough.

Are you on a tip, or manual? If tip, are you coming to a FULL stop? At least on my '11 8sp, it will not shift down to 1st unless I come to a FULL stop. You can verify it if you do the vag-com mod to show the gear in the display. Doesn't matter if you slow down to the point where the wheels are just barely turning, if they don't stop, it will be starting from 2nd gear. The frustrating thing is: I have an s-line with the paddle shifters. With the paddle shifters I can override the auto gear selection while still in D, UNLESS I am slowing down and it's already in 2nd gear. If I try to then downshift to 1st, it's too late, it won't let me. It will stay in 2nd unless I come to a full stop, OR if I put it into M mode and then downshift. But if I'm in D and coming to a stop and downshift with the paddle shifters while it's still in 3rd, it will then go to 2nd (in temporary M mode), and will allow me to downshift again to 1st.
