Under the "Innovations" section, it says: "DVD-based Navigation system with voice control"
I was under the impression that the newer 3G MMI uses a hard drive-based system (instead of DVD).

I would suspect 3G still has a DVD drive for map updates.
They wouldn't want to give up the sweet deal they have with Navteq for map updates.

I would guess it gets the 3G MMI
The A5 has it now and the European A4 is supposed to get it in summer (week 29 or so) 2009. If the S4 first shows up in late Q3 I would guess chances are good that it will have the 3G MMI.

In Germany all new A5 ordered now come with the MMI v3
And if I read the latest A5 order guide for the US correctly, it also states MMI Navigation Plus (which is 3G) and not MMI Navigation with DVD (whcih would be 1G as in the A4 B8).

There is still a DVD drive for the naviagtion unit
So I guess the maps are still loaded from DVD but may be stored on the hard drive for faster access.<ul><li><a href="http://www.navplus.us/forums/showthread.php?p=61114#post61114">click</a></li></ul>
