Trunk lid button not working right

Trunk lid button not working right
I'm not sure if this is just a design issue and it's how it is or I have a problem. I can open the trunk with the button in the door and I can hold the button on the key to open it. I can also tap the button on the key and then press the trunk lid release on the trunk lid itself. I expect to be able to walk up to it when it's unlocked and just open the lid without hitting the key button first. Not sure if that's normal but hoping for clarification.
Thanks

I'm not sure there is a problem, though I might not understand your post entirely. Those are all ways to open the trunk. If your car is in drive, it shouldn't let the trunk open from the outside. If your keys are in your pocket and it senses the proximity of the key it should let you just pop it open similar to how the door locks work.

Just to clarify, I have a 2010 Audi A4. Base model I think. I don't have keyless entry on it. My issue is I can't use the button under the truck lid unless I hit the button on my key fob as well. It just doesn't work without hitting the key at the same time or right before.
