We may also see this diesel in the B8 A4
This was posted on the Q5 forum.
I sat in the B8 A4 in Germany last month. The car had the 2.0 TDI in it. The dealer said there was no reason for the V6, as the 2.0 was as fast as most people need and is lighter as well.
Just think a 2.0 TDI and electric motor. A torque monster for sure!<ul><li><a href="http://blog.wired.com/cars/2008/02/vw-unveiling-an.html">Coming Soon from VW: A 69.9 MPG Diesel Hybrid</a></li></ul>

Not for North America we won't.
For the bazillion gazillionth time, AoA has publicly said that we are getting the 3.0TDI only. VW is getting the 2.0TDI. This is the plan for the foreseeable future.

Re: Not for North America we won't.
And you know this for a fact? Johan told you this?
First, you need to know that anything AoA says can change at a moment's notice depending on market conditions. That said, AoA's history of wrong market decisions, here in the US, are well documented over the last 20 years. So, I guess what I want to say is that nothing is written in stone when it comes to what AoA says today and does tomorrow.
Remember, AoA first said that we'd have a Q7 TDI by fall of 2007 as a MY 2008. And what happen to that promise? Just one of many examples of why you can't belive anything AoA says.

NA will get the 3.0TDI eventually. AoA will NOT bring over the 2.0TDI for NA.
VW will get the new 2.0TDI as a replacement for their current diesel engine.
Expecting anything else is a pipe dream.

So you'd rather extrapolate from a site that didn't mention the B8 A4 at all, than to believe AoA?
Neither the article you've linked (Wired), nor the two external links of that article (DailyTech & Channel4), specifically mentioned the B8 A4 is getting the smaller 2.0TDI.
