What MMI Cable?
Hey all
I’m new to this forum and was after a bit of advice. I’m looking to get a MMI cable for my Audi A4 Avant (2012) and was wondering which colour cable I needed? It’s for an IPhone SE
Any help would be much appreciated
thanks

It's an AMI cable (audi music interface). iPhone SE has the lightning connector? Appears which cable you get then depends on if you have MMI 3G [4F0051510AC (white)] or MMI 3G+ [4F0051510AL (yellow) which replaced 4F0051510AD (green)].
Here in the US, B8 MY2009 A4 is MMI 2G, B8 MY2010-2012 A4 is MMI 3G, and B8.5 A4 is MMI 3G+.
You might go through this thread which seems to be discussing the topic: http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/129166-AMI-leads-if-you-re-buying-one-make-sure-you-get-the-one-with-a-red-collar/page15
I have no idea what red and blue are; didn't bother to read through it all.
But since you have MMI 3G or 3G+, connect your phone via bluetooth (for the hands free telephone aspect) and press the Media button on the MMI and check if the iPhone is already displayed as an available source.
And the AMI lightning cable seems like it would be annoying to constantly plug and unplug, and looks case unfriendly. I'd be much more likely, if the phone doesn't show up as a media device using the hands free bluetooth, to get an AMI bluetooth cable (discussed in various threads here recently).
