Default Adding real dipstick to 2010 A4 2.0T engine

Anyone added a dipstick to their 2010 A4 2.0T? I just bought one for ~ $26. I removed the plastic plug that came in the top of the dipstick tube and inserted my new dipstick. Just one issue. At the top, right under the orange disptick handle, it's shoulder is a little wider than the widest part of the shoulder on the plastic plug. Thus, it doesn't want to go in perhaps the last half inch of the way to fully seat.

It looks as if the dipstick tube has some sort of soft plastic / hard ruber insert at the top. Perhaps I'm supposed to remove this plastic insert when using a real dipstick? Or, perhaps I supposed to just push down hard for the original insertion, forcing the soft plastic / hard rubber to "adjust" to the real dipstick's wider shoulder at the very top?

Anyone done this yet? Ideas? Suggestions? Surely I'm not the only Audi fanatic who wants a real dipstick in his expensive piece of German machinery!

Came from Boardwalk Audi in Plano TX. It's Audi part # 03L 115 611 M. What's the part number on your dipstick? It's located just under the handle on top -- very small and rather hard to read.

I did a bunch of internet research yesterday and it seems the most often recommended part # is 06J 115 611 E. This is supposed to fit as you describe -- just remove the plug that the car came with and insert the dipstick in its place. Voila. No muss, no fuss. Is this the part number you have?

I have and 06J 115 611 E and it fits quite snuggly on mine. Seems to read ok, but its been a bit since I checked. I will check tomorrow and see how far its diff from AMI reading.

Although, I have never really burned oil like some report on here and AZ...

Thanks for this. My dealer in Oakland ordered what they thought was a dipstick for my 2009, ended up being just the plug. Returned it of course, and I gave up. Will try again at some time, but am losing interest in the need to actually see my oil.

Had Boardwalk Audi (Plano, TX) order 06J 115 611 E as recommended here (after returning the first one that didn't fit right). 06J 115 611 E works fine -- fits fine and seems to read accurately (essentially the same as the MMI-displayed reading from the electronic sensor).

Many thanks to all for the recommendations and guidance.

SOLUTION!!!!
Just to let everyone know, I have an Audi A4 B8 2009 2.0TDI Engine, i have done my research just like everyone else about this annoying dipstick issue. My dipstick tube is located underneath engine cover with a plug.

I found a solution at long last!!!!

I purchased this dipstick which was perfectly correct for my vehicle on eBay- CLICK HERE

Now I can always check my oil level on both MMI and manually finally.
