Default Would you buy a used car with original warranty thats not CPO?

Im looking at some used 2012-2013's that still have original manufacturer warranty but the dealer decided not to CPO it. Should I be concerned that the dealer didn't CPO it? Could it mean they already foresee problems with it down the line and dont want to incur the cost?

Just struck me as odd to see some newish used cars with CPO and some without and got me thinking as to why the dealer wouldn't CPO some cars.

Yes, I just did. I bought a 3-month old allroad which had CPO, but I had the CPO removed. Here's why ...

I bargained that they lower the price by $3,000 and they said "OK, we will lower asking price by $2,800" but remove the CPO - I said "no Problem, YES PLEASE REMOVE THE CPO". It still has the original 4-yr warranty (more like 3.75 yr warranty), plus it had Audicare $820 included - that's free maintenance to 55,000 miles.

The CPO would just increase the price by $2,300 - $2,500, which the dealer pays to Audi of America. That is why some dealers DO NOT offer CPO, because it will cost them money.

Besides, the CPO only extends the warranty by TWO (2) years or to 100,000 miles. So, even if get to 60,000 - 80,000 miles two years after the original warranty expires, THAT'S IT ! Your extended warranty is no more. I got that extended warranty on my previous A6 and it was a total waste of money considering that I had no problem with it.

Generally, a dealership will choose to not get a car CPO to save $$, not because they foresee problems. If it worries you, request CPO for the car. It will raise the price though. I asked the dealer about this when I bought my car (it was 8 months old and had 6000 miles)and he asked why I want to waste my $$.

The cars you've seen that are CPO probably have more miles than those that are not. I think it's not just age, but mileage that drives a dealership to do CPO.

Compare the benefits of CPO to the benefits of an extended warranty. They offer 7yr/70000mile extended warranties to you if you are worried about reliability.

CPO is a warm fuzzy. If you want that warm fuzzy for a few extra $$$, by all means go ahead. I had a friend buy a BMW 330i CPO and it has had tons of problems (I think his car is a lemon given that it spent months in the shop).

I bought an A4 brand new back in 2009 and I would not buy new again (first time ever doing so). I just bought an '08 Q7 (46K miles) for my wife and she loves it -- and I love that I got it for >50% off the sticker price. There are deals to be found in the used market and CPO rarely offers the deals you want. Good luck shopping.

I bought my car CPO'd with less then 8k miles a few years ago.
It now has just over 53k and has been just about flawless.
If I never use the CPO and I decide to sell it is transferable to next buyer for ~$150.

Audi repairs are not cheap so if you're buying one with over 50k+ miles I suggest some type of warranty.

I'm back after a 5 year Audi hiatus, because my BWM 335xi has been a lemon. In the 66 months / 78k miles I've owned it, it has been in the shop on average every 104 days. Covered by warranty until the past year, but already for 2013 I've racked up $2000 in repairs with more issues on the todo list.

I'm thinking about getting back into Audi but am now very concerned about owning a German car without a warranty anymore. For those saying that there are other options besides Audi's CPO, how do they work? Do they pay dealership rates and offer loaner cars like the CPO does?
