18 vs 19” Wheels

It's the tyre sidewall that you are really asking about here, not the wheels.
It depends on what kind of roads you're driving on. More rough, patchy, uneven areas, you will definitely feel a difference. Highway cruising and decent city roads, you will not. The suspension on the A4 is fantastic so you have to think that even potholes and other crap will be very well absorbed, but still, a 19s will have less sidewall and give, you will feel it more than the 18s.
I ride 18s in the winter and 19s in the summer... What do I enjoy more? The 19s. I'm an "efficient" driver . There's definitely better handling between 18s winter specific to 19s performance tyres.
Good luck and good decision. I'm currently considering driving for Uber so I can spend more time driving the car...
Tip: For what it's worth, I don't know that I will buy a brand new car in the future (unless I really just have that cash), seeing what good value you can get on a well built car that's barely 2 years old and under 40K KM. If you're leasing, different story.

I personally prefer the 18's. Driving around Chicago, where people actually live in some of the potholes, they are much more forgiving. It really depends on the type of roads you drive on. We also own a TT with 19's, and they are pretty good. But on broken and uneven pavement you can definitely feel the difference.

Wheels also make a difference. Unless Audi adjusted the spring/damper rates, or the wheels are constructed of a lighter material, the increased mass and increased rotational inertia will make a difference in handling.
