I'm posting this for a friend who has an 2017 A4 (I have a 2018 S5), but it sounds like a really frustrating issue. Here's his story:

On several occasions he gets in and it won't start. If he opens the door the alarm goes off. A couple times he
has called his wife who brought him the extra key fob and used that to start the car.
The dealer took it in twice and could not get the problem to repeat but each time they replaced
one of his key fobs. The problem still occurs intermittently. He is now so afraid of getting stranded (he's in his 80's) that he wants the dealer to buy it back.

He lives in the Pensacola area. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I'm tempted to tell him to try another Audi dealer, but the closest one (Mobile AL) is about two hours from his home.
