Default 2017 Audi A4 40000 DSG fluid

Hello. I have a 2017 Audi A4 FWD Premium, I am coming up on my 40,000 mile maintenance. I am confused about if it requires a DSG transmission fluid flush AND filter element or just a fluid flush. I know the 2018's only call for a transmission flush. I called audi and they said they will do a transmission flush and replace the filter element. However, the 2018's do not require a new transmission filter even though its the same engine? My local mechanic says I just need the flush for my 2017.

There are no filters to change in a 2017. There are 3 filters built into the mechatronics unit. The fluid you change at 40k is the DSG fluid on the mechatronics and clutch side. The gears and the gears oil are separate from the DSG fluid

So when the Audi schedulers tell me they are flushing and replacing the filter, the mechanics are only flushing the transmission fluid? Audi maintenance schedule for the 2017 is wrong?

"Perform first at 40,000 miles and thereafter every 40,000 miles. DSG/S tronic: Change ATF oil and replace transmission filter element for clutch hydraulics." What exactly is a filter element?

Just did my flush and ask this question to stealers, the filter is not in a serviceable place, so if there's a issue down the road we'll all do a class action on AOA. (4qt DSG oil, 90 min labour, $429 + tax).

Yes A4 B9 are fluid change only. The filters are inside with the mechatronics unit and I've heard that the subframe must be dropped to get to them but I may be wrong.
I asked 3 different dealership about the DSG service and got 3 different answers.
One said 80k, fluid and filter
One said 50k fluid and filter
The last one said 40k fluid only.
I ended up doing it myself and am glad I did. Drop old fluid, replace with new, bring up to temp and pull plug and let drain till it slows considerably and put in a new plug. The hardest part of the whole thing was getting the car up on Jack stands and level.
One note is that to get as much old fluid out as possible one needs to use VCDS or obdeleven to empty the pressure accumulator.

Here is an excellent write up by Breadbooze from over in the A4B9 Allroad forum
