Default 2018 dual clutch transmission much smoother than the 2017?

I have a March 2017 build, A4 Quattro. I recently got a loaner of a 2018 with only 4K from the Dealer for a few days and noticed that the transmission seems much smoother on the 2018. Anybody else have the same experience? If yes ....

Is there anything that can be done to the 2017s to improve the transmission shifts? Any software upgrades or TSBs on it?

I got a 2018 A4 in July and cannot really compare it to the 2017's, but will say that to me the transmission is quite smooth for a dual clutch. Having read complaints about dual clutch transmissions over the years I was expecting some jerkiness, but so far all is good.

Same here a irenesbob got car 5 weeks ago July 2018 build trans completely smooth. We also have a /15 A6 3.0T and the A4 is as smooth as the ZF 8 speed. No DSG issues perceptible to me.

Best,
Jeff

If there's a TSB for this, I would love, love, love to know about it...

Without knowing the 2018 software version it hard to tell, Can someone with a 2018 and ODB11 tell us? My 17 Prestige is a early built, But I've reset all learn adaptations of the DSG at 6k, now 31k and its smoother.

I have an earlier 2017 and the DSG is incredibly smooth. I spend a ton of time in heavy traffic crawling along and it's nearly as good as a slushbox.

This is specifically at lower speeds.

2018, I can't feel the gear shifts whether it's sport or dynamic.

UDPATE: They reset the transmission and so far feels much smoother, although slightly less quick on the lower gears. I was told it will learn my driving habits. The jerkiness seems to have almost disappeared. Will update with more extended driving.

P.S. I had bought a 8 month old CPO, so the earlier transmission programming probably came from the earlier owner's driving habits.

I got a loaner 2021 Q5 and the transmission(same as A4 I believe) is butter smooth compared to my 2017 at low speeds. Also, the hesitation when starting from a stop is almost not there.

4+ years of learning and software modifications would yield improvements, I assume.
