Aftermarket Xenon headlight for collision repair?
My insurance company won't pay for an OEM headlight for my collision repair on my 2017 A4 Premium w/Xenons. They are calling for an aftermarket replacement.
It kinda surprises me that there even IS an aftermarket replacement for these complicated HID lights with shutters, motors, etc.
I asked the body shop who the suppliers were and they said "Continental" and "Keystone". I haven't been able to find these, but I did find several other brands.
Anyone have any experience with these replacement parts? or links to them?

What in the sam hell kind of garbage insurance do you have? What state are you in (as in my state this would be illegal)?
I have never heard of an aftermarket headlamp for a car this new, let alone for a luxury German import this new. And I would suspect that using one will probably invalidate your car's new vehicle warranty for any future lighting and/or electrical problems that you might experience, which would certainly be a concern of mine if the ballast fries out on some cheapo Chinese HID light or something like that.
I would have your body shop write a simple and concise email to your adjustor stating "a suitable aftermarket replacement does not exist for this vehicle and we are not authorized to perform a repair with non-Genuine-Audi parts" or something of the nature. Your body shop should be going to bat for you on this one...it stands to benefit you and it also stands to benefit them.
Hopefully you do not have to get a lawyer to write a letter but I would drop whatever fools are insuring you and switch carriers the moment this is resolved.

I don't think you are getting aftermarket, but rather OEM "recycled" from a salvage yard, which carries a warranty and would be perfectly fine in many situations. However, on a car so new it seems odd for them to press so hard on this issue.

Abnormal, you can always offer to pay the difference out-of-pocket if it is a genuine worry to you.

Progressive? They're famous for this. I take my car to a repair shop that I've known for years, they won't even allow Progressive's adjusters on their lot, they insist they send a third party adjuster, and insist on OEM parts.

Even State Farm wasn't that cheap when I had some body work done.
