Has anyone used Amsoil in their engines? Audi changes my oil every 10k miles but I wanted to upgrade the oil to something a bit better if I can and reduce the intervals to around 5k. I've always used Castrol Edge Titanium but after seeing some actual oil comparison tests, I am left unimpressed with it in comparison to Amsoil.

Also, I'm buying an extractor and I see a billion of them on the internet for sale, including one on Amazon with decent reviews. It is hand pumped. I see ones that you can hook to an air compressor system for pumping as well as ones with electric motor pumps. Would I get much better suction out of a pneumatic or electric motor pump extractor over the hand pump ones?

Anyone have recommendations on the best oil filter?

I'm looking for a good DYI video for my car that shows how to change the oil, oil filter, and other 'serviceable' items such as the air filtration, brake fluid, etc.

I've used Amsoil in the past in all of my Mustangs and currently run it in my Z06 without problems. In my wife's VW I use Liqui Moly and I'm doing the same with our A4. ECS Tuning is a great source for all things Audi. They sell oil service kits and all kinds of serviceable parts. The oil extractor they sell is first rate and makes oil changes a breeze. It's a hand pump and it works great. Back to the oil. You're going to get 3 million opinions on what oils are best. If, like me, you're going to do 5K intervals you can't go wrong with Amsoil as long as the cert complies with our cars (I believe it does). Otherwise, check out the oil service kits on ECS Tuning. They come with everything you need to complete the job at a great price. Good luck with your choice.

Thanks yeah I see the kits on ECSTuning but they didn't have any Amsoil kits so I wanted to see what's up.

As noted, you'll get many, many opinions on oil. Just be aware that Amsoil isn't among the 17 oils recommended by Audi in their 2017 TSB.

17 Engine oils that meet Audi Oil Quality Standards 501 01, 502 00, 504 00,505 00, 505 01, 507 00, 508 00, and 509 00

The owners manual specifies 502 or 504 for gasoline engines and 507 for diesels.
