Default Apple Carplay Problem: Could 256GB capacity be the issue?

Hi everyone! I am new to AudiWorld and a first time Audi owner. I just got my 2017 Audi A4 Quattro Premium Plus two days ago and ran into an interesting problem with Apple Carplay and I am wondering if anyone else is running into the same issue. My girlfriend has the 128gb iPhone 7 Plus and I have the 256gb iPhone 7 Plus. When I plug her phone in the USB port, the car recognizes it and prompts me if I want to connect to Carplay. When I go ahead and plug in my phone, it doesn't prompt me to connect to Carplay at all. It still recognizes my phone as media and I can still play songs off the phone via the USB connection but not as part of Carplay. I am wondering if the phone capacity is an issue. It says inthe owner's manual that for a SD card, the maximum capacity is 128gb. I'm not sure if I can make a comparison between a phone and a SD card but that's my educated guess. FYI, both phones were running the same iOS 10.

Anyone have any idea what's going on here?

That seems unlikely. Try going to the Audi smartphone interface and connecting it there.

The iOS 10 Settings app > General >CarPlay says to press and hold the voice control button on the steering wheel to start CarPlay. Did you do that with your iPhone?

I cannot test this myself as my 2017 A4 Allroad has not arrived from Germany yet.

You know what's really funny? I navigated as you mentioned above and strangely enough, I do not have the "CarPlay" section in my general settings. I asked my girlfriend to check her phone and she has the setting. I gotta look into this a little bit more. Thanks for the lead lifjoy!

Ok so I got the problem resolved by talking with an apple rep. I had restored my new phone from a backup of my iPhone 6+ and apparently that's what caused the problem. I had to reset all settings and was able to get the CarPlay functionality back. Thanks everyone!
