Default Car stalling & emission control fault warning

Anyone had this before? Just happened to me in last half hour. Hopped in, switched on engine, stuck her in gear and moved off. After about 5-10 yards, the car spluttered to a halt. Engine refused to turn over a couple of times after that with the emission control fault warning light on the dash. I switched off the car, left it for about two minutes and restarted the car with no problems. Managed to drive home without incident and the light hasn't come back on.

This has never happened before. Car's about 3 years old, the 1.4 turbo TFSi model we have in Europe.

Should I be concerned?

I would be concerned... but I also never just get in, turn it on, and drive off. I always let the engine run for about 15 seconds minimum before putting it in Drive / Reverse. If it's been sitting for longer (mornings generally), I let the engine settle at 0.9 RPM (approx 30 seconds) since it's been sitting for longer

Thanks for the reply. I was rushing and may have moved off the instant the car engine turned over. Might be wise giving it a few seconds beforehand.

It still shouldn’t stall.

Absolutely. It's never happened before and I've driven the car twice since without incident or a warning light appearing on the dash. Very odd.

No idea why that happened to you. A similar issue happened to me once but that was because of the Racechip I had. Removed it, cleaned the connectors and reconnected it and it’s been fine since.

Do you have an OBDEleven? See if it pulls any fault codes? Chances are that fault codes will be stored.
