Code P268100 Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Control circuit open
Took car in last week for a weird noise on drivers side of engine after shut down, kind of a squealing grinding type noise which went on for about 10 minutes and i luckly caught the last of it on my phone. Showed the video to the Audi tech and he said that was a coolant pump and got them ordered and they came in yesterday. Today I made an appointment to have them installed on Monday. Wife comes home today and now the check engine light is on. I put the OBDeleven on and it pulled P268100. Glad i noticed the noise while i was changing the oil at 49600 miles because the code didnt pop till today at 50169! lol.

And on the second try fixed
Went today to have the coolant pumps installed. 2 hours later they give me the keys and say all done. Start driving home and after about 20 miles I realize I'm freezing. Crank heat up from 72 to 80 and no change. Turn around and go back to dealer and after an additional burp of the coolant system and a test drive with the shop foreman nothings changed. Shop foreman puts it back in the bay and long story short the coolant pump controlled by the hvac controls is hooked up to the transmission cooler and the transmission cooler pump is connected to the heater core.
As car idled for the air burping protocol heat began to build in the cabin, as the car was driven on the first test drive air temp went back to cold. Had them scratching their heads for a minute.

Wife and daughter go to Lexington to Christmas shop and check engine light comes on again. 5 different engine codes all coolant system related. Even showing open circuit on the circulation pumps that were replaced on Monday. SMH.

Back at dealer now. They've pulled it in and looked at it for a while, then test drive, then pull it back in look at it a while and then test drive. I think they'll need to fill it up with gas at this rate.

Shop foreman came out and said they've had to readapt the main coolant level sensor switch, which all the other coolant pumps get their signals from. Said it was a hard fault that no one could clear.
so it's been programmed with a new adaptation and off to test drive number 5 lol.

TSB came out over the weekend
Supposedly there has been a TSB come out over the weekend for the coolant pump problem that I'm am experiencing, according to the service manager. Will see if it's true when I get the A4 back.
