First time Audi owner, drove home a 2018 A4 last week. Really enjoying it, but it has added a minor annoyance to my running. I coach a trail running group in Boulder, CO and drive to a trail head 6-7 times per week for a run. My last car had a valet key that was light and easy to carry with me on runs, but it appears my only option with the Audi convenience key is to take the whole thing with me on the run. Is this accurate? I guess I can remove the mechanical key, but that is the lighter part and not really worth the effort of doing this every time. My other related question is if I want to minimize the size of my key ring to just the convenience key with no ring or other keys attached, then it is much easier to keep it in my car parked in my attached garage. I'm not worried about theft, but is there any other reason (drain on car battery?) not to leave the convenience key in the car in my garage? It would come with me in my pocket anytime I park the car anywhere other than my own garage. Trying to keep it as light as possible for running without having to frequently remove attached rings and keys. No attached rings means I can't hang it up on our key hook inside the house, hence why I'm asking if it's OK to leave it in the car? Thank you for any feedback.
