DID JIFFY LUBE DO THIS TO MY CAR?
Hi Everyone: Maybe not the best move on my part to get my oil changed there. They had issues getting the cover on and off. Please look at pic and tell me if you think this is Jiffy Lube-related. Thanks! -David

The dealer drains the oil from the top, with a pump that goes into the dipstick tube. Jiffy Lube are idiots.

That doesn’t answer my question though. Does anyone know what is wrong down there? And did Jiffy Lube do it? |
Never, never take a high quality car to Jiffy Lube! I would be concerned that they may not have used VW504 or VW502 spec oil in your fill. I assume that the damage you see is because that the jiffy lube person drained your oil from the oil pan and did not use or damaged the fasteners on the cover. The bottom cover may fly off in highway speeds. Also I would worry about the oil plug. The A4 B9 has a plastic oil pan and I believe that the plug and gasket needs to be replaced each time it is removed. Since the A4 B8, Audi changes the oil using a vacuum extractor from the dipstick tube. I change my A4 B9 using a vacuum extractor and it is easy. Also your oil filter is located conveniently near the dipstick tube. I suggest that you take the car to a reputable independent mechanic or to an Audi dealership and have the oil pan, and bottom cover checked and properly repaired.

A few years ago, I remember a post on another forum about someone who took his S4 to Jiffy Lube for an oil change and had a square hole cut through the metal on the underside of his car.

I've seen my dealer drain from the bottom. The oil drain plug is plastic, they replace it with a new one. If you're not near an Audi shop, VW dealers are a good back-up. |

There are clips and screws that hold that bottom engine bay plastic protector in place. When they took it apart, clearly they weren't smart enough to put it back together or lost a few clips that hold it in place. Bite the bullet, head to the dealer, get it fixed and STAY AWAY FROM JIFFY LUBE!!! |
