Does anyone know how to remove the black plastic trim piece with the red exit warning LEDs above the aluminum/wood inlays on the door? Is it all just clips, or is there a bit more to it?
I got this kit from the OP as well, by the way, top notch!

I've done it this way on two cars (2017 A4 & 2018 Q5) & will soon do it to a 2019 Q8 (can you believe Audi cheaped out & doesn't install lighted door warning lights on an 80K+ vehicle - my 2017 Q7 had them standard )

If you're reasonably coordinated I've found it's fairly simple to remove the reflector on the back of the door & the puddle light on the bottom & use a fish tape from the rear hole down to the bottom hole. Attach the connector for the new warning light & carefully pull it back up & out. No door panel removal required.

It’s pretty straightforward. Just remove the reflector & the puddle light & carefully route the snake from the top hole to the bottom. Kind of have to do it by feel since you can’t see inside the door. It did help to put a light shining up thru the bottom hole so you could see it from the top & use it as an aiming point.
I’m like you - no way I’m going to risk taking the whole door panel off - especially with the soft close mechanism on the Q8.
