The very first "Standard Maintenance Service" (assuming that includes an oil change) is @ 8000 Km or 1 year....
Standard Maintenance Service thereafter occur at intervals of 15,000 Km
This is in my canadian 2017 A4 "warranty and maintenance" booklet.
I will still judge in a last moment, leaning towards DIY oilchanges...my TDi with 430 K Km works like a swiss watch...
long years I was using Elf oils but recently Motul is tickling my interest

Now that A4 B9 owners are changing oil and some A4s have passed their 10,000 mile mark could anyone comment on the rate of oil consumption? Have you had to add oil during this period? What was the oil level as you came close to the 10K mile mark?
I ask this because the 2009-2012 A4 B8 models had high consumption rates. Although I got the stage one "fix" I was nearing 1 qt of oil every 2000 miles. Many people were consuming 1 qt every 600 to 800 miles before they got the stage 2 pistons and rings replaced. Would owners comment how the A4 B9 doing after a year in service?

Hi rmur,
In the B8 A4 you had to use a VagCom to set the service interval. With the B9 A4 you can change the service interval using the MMI. See page 323 of the owner's manual. This is indeed a convenience and another example of one of many improvements found in the B9 versus the B8 A4.

The A4 B9 can use VW spec 502 or VW spec 504 oil. The only problem is finding VW spec 504 oil. My local auto parts shop only carries VW spec 502 oil (0W 40). The difference with VW 504 (5W 30) oil is that it is superior in reducing friction; it is the factory fill for the new A4s. I had to go on the web to order VW 504 spec oil. I like to keep a quart of oil in the trunk. I also got the metal oil filter canister from ETS.
