Engine stalling in 2017 A4
Anyone else have this happen to them? I’m driving a 2017 B9 2.0T Ultra FWD...
Twice this week during City driving, the engine “stalled out” (not sure how to properly describe what happened).
The last time, the car was in drive (Dynamic Mode) and I was coasting into a right hand turn...and when I stepped on the gas to accelerate into the lane, the car didn’t accelerate, but hit really high RPM’s - not dissimilar to if you had your car in neutral and floored it...it was really bizarre. I had to quickly turn the engine off and restart the car while a bunch of cars got held up behind me.
Kinda panicked in the moment since it was such unexpected behavior. Luckily I was not moving in a high speed freeway situation...could’ve been really dangerous had the traffic situation been different.
Searched Google and it looks like a bunch of the 2017 A3’s are being recalled for this very type of thing. Called Audi Customer Care and they knew nothing of the sort...taking this into the dealership tomorrow to get it looked at.
Would like to know if anyone else has experienced this.

Doesn't this sound like more of a transmission problem than an engine issue?
The A3 has a completely different DSG transmission from the longitudinal one in the A4.

I have experienced something similar for my car. In my situation I was about to get on a on-ramp and I downshifted and stepped on the gas before the clutch was engaged so the engine was revving even though it wasn't moving. Ever since I was aware of that it never happened again, I think it is just a matter of timing.
